The foundation of my practice is land art. It inspires me as I walk on it, by it and look down on it. A geographer and an artist the geology, topography and landscape are predominant features of my works. In my works maps and evidence of human settlements and industry. Geography is a discipline that touches on every aspect of the physical world and man’s interaction with that world.
I layer to reflect the different aspects of the landscape and our relationship with the land. I like to apply a base layer of scrubbed acrylic to depict the geology and the landscape. I apply a base further layers on some sections of the work from maps using charcoal. The final work conveys the myriad complexities of the land around us and our relationship with that land.
